Meet Jill Hoffman
As a Sausalito City Council member for the last 12 years, I have a strong record of accomplishments for the city and its residents.
As a litigation attorney, I know the importance of identifying key issues and finding a path for success within the confines of laws and regulations.
As a Naval Officer, local business owner, and proud Sausalito resident, I bring a breadth of experience and perspective to the council.
Professional info
I am a Litigation Attorney by trade, I’ve served as lead trial counsel on multi-million dollar lawsuits in Alameda, Los Angeles, Napa and San Francisco, and continue to advocate for my clients in trial settings.
On a daily basis, I evaluate facts and law and develop strategies for successful resolution. I know the importance of identifying key issues and identifying a path for success within the confines of laws and regulations.
Interests
- I took a one year “sailing sabbatical” from San Francisco through the Panama Canal to Newport, Rhode Island with my husband on our 40’ Islander, AWOL.
- As a Sausalito parent, I served on the Steering Committee of the Sausalito Nursery School.

Work experience
In 1990 I came to Naval Station Treasure Island from the mid-west as a young US Navy JAG Corps Officer.
In the Navy, I practiced mainly criminal law and served as lead defense counsel on hundreds of cases. After a tour in Naples, Italy, I left active duty 1997 and settled in Sausalito with my husband and son. However, I remained in the U.S. Navy Reserves, and in 2023 I retired as a Captain after 33 years of service.
Since 1997, I’ve I’ve practiced civil litigation in the Bay Area, and I’ve been an elected member of the Sausalito City Council since 2014.
