Candidates Jacqueline Amrikhas, CPA, and Sandra Bushmaker have my full endorsement for your vote for Sausalito City Council. I have attended and listened closely at various candidate forums and debates. More importantly, I have listened to our community and neighbors about their issues and concerns.
It is absolutely crucial that we have representatives on the Council who will vote for residents and our City as a whole.
As many of you know I have been concerned about the direction taken by the current City Council majority in the last 2 years.
This Council’s decisions have plunged Sausalito into an operating deficit for the foreseeable future as our 10-year projections clearly showed in February 2024. In 2023 alone, this Council’s actions added approximately $1.2 million in city expenses annually. Our city also lost its insurance coverage due to high litigation volume directly related to neglected infrastructure, which added $1.3 million in insurance coverage costs as well as increasing our deductible from $50,000 to $500,000. Further decisions by the Council majority in 2024 added approximately $450,000 in added expenses and lost revenue related to non-priority projects.
A recent attempt by an incumbent to use "unaudited financials" from an incomplete audit of FY 2023/2024, to politicize our town’s financial reporting and magically erase the reported $ 1 million operational deficit is an indefensible departure from acceptable financial reporting practices and why so many of our financially experienced residents support Jacqueline and Sandra.
We must have Councilmembers who are financially literate and responsible. I urge you to vote for Jacqueline Amrikhas, CPA, and Sandra Bushmaker, former Sausalito Mayor, for City Council.
